IDOT is responsible for ensuring and monitoring, through systems of quality and compliance reviews and investigations, that department contractors, vendors, and employees are accountable, compliant, and providing quality goods, services, and products in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, protocols and contractual provisions.

The Bureau of Investigations and Compliance is designated as the Secretary’s advocate for compliance review activities.  As such, it monitors the department’s projects and programs on a sample basis for compliance with quality and quantity product commitment along with safety and legal requirements. The Bureau also performs financial audit services for the department to provide assurances of Local Agency and contractor compliance with the state and federal regulations, laws and the contracts specifications. The Bureau also conducts and assists law enforcement with internal and external investigations as they relate to the department.
