Pritzker administration announces $110 million in Rebuild Illinois funding for public ports across Illinois

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) today announced $110 million in funding from the bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital plan is available to improve public ports across the state of Illinois. The Department is seeking project proposals to improve public ports and help modernize and revitalize the state’s marine transportation system. Applications are due June 11 to be eligible for a total of $110 million in funding to be released later this year.

Multiple projects scheduled in Kane and DuPage area

Local projects receive $7 million from IDOT to help manage truck traffic, economic growth

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that $7 million has been awarded for 21 projects that upgrade roads to accommodate local truck traffic, leveraging a total investment of $36 million that will create jobs and boost economic activity in communities throughout the state. SPRINGFIELD — As warmer weather approaches, motorcycles are becoming a common sight. In an effort to advocate for a safe riding season, the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Illinois State Police have joined forces to kick off the latest “Ride Smart” safety campaign, reminding motorcyclists to have their bikes safety-checked to make sure they’re in proper running condition, prepare their high-visibility clothing and take advantage of the free motorcycle training classes throughout the state.

ICC Announces FY 2022-2026 Crossing Safety Improvement Plan

March 22, 2021

Springfield, IL - On Thursday, the Illinois Commerce Commission approved its annual five-year Crossing Safety Improvement Program to begin implementing highway-rail safety capital projects for local roads across the state. For Fiscal Years 2022-2026, the ICC will spend $341 million from the Grade Crossing Protection Fund (GCPF) to help local communities and railroads pay for safety improvements at nearly 500 crossing locations. The plan also allocates $78 million from the Rebuild Illinois (RBI) capital program for the installation of grade crossing protection or grade separations not limited to local routes or other restrictions.
