The FY 2023 Annual Highway Improvement Program shows the projects IDOT planned to implement during state fiscal year 2023 from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023. The FY 2023 Annual Highway Improvement Program totaled $3.962 billion, including $2.765 billion for improvements on the state system and $1.197 billion for improvements on local highways. As circumstances arose throughout the fiscal year, modifications were made to the program. After these modifications were made, the FY 2023 adjusted annual Highway Improvement program totaled $4.202 billion - $3.486 billion of which was awarded during the fiscal year.

A total of 900 miles of roads, 1,738,177 square feet of deck area (162 bridges) and 67 safety and traffic improvements were scheduled to be accomplished in the FY 2023 Annual Highway Improvement Program.

In FY 2023, IDOT accomplished 896 miles of roads, 1,464,699 square feet of deck area (107 bridges) and 141 safety and traffic improvements.
